Jupiter High School band awarded the prestigious Otto J. Kraushaar Award for the first time since 1992

The Jupiter Community High School Band was awarded the distinguished Otto J. Kraushaar Award from the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) on April 27 at the 2022 Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment (MPA).  It is the first time since 1992 that the Jupiter High School Band has been awarded this prestigious award.

The Otto J. Kraushaar Award is given to those band programs in the state that have earned straight superior ratings at all Florida Band Association events during a single school year, including marching, district concert, and state concert competitions.

"After working so hard and receiving straight superior ratings at Palm Beach County School District Music Performance Assessment, we felt confident about competing at the state level," said Ryan Ross, Band Director at Jupiter Community High School.

In November, the Jupiter High School Band earned straight superior ratings with its halftime show, “Step by Step”, from the Florida Bandmasters Association, and the Class 3A State Championship at the Florida Marching Band Associations (FMBA) State Competition in Ocala, Florida.  In March, the wind symphony earned superior ratings on its performance at the Florida Bandmasters Association District Concert assessment in Palm Beach County.

The Otto J. Kraushaar Award is the highest award any band can receive in the State of Florida.
