ABOUT
When three 30-something, self-proclaimed “hopheads” decided to open their own brewery, you’d think finding the ideal location would be a challenge. But you’d be wrong.
“Honestly, we’ve always wanted to be in this spot – in Downtown Abacoa,” says Karl Volstad, co-owner of Civil Society Brewing Company. “We’re from Jupiter and this was all part of our vision. This is home.”
Civil Society Brewing Company has an industrial, clean, unfinished-wood look (kind of a New York feel) and uses a seven-barrel system in their brewing process. The list of beers include Fresh (IPA), Southern Exposure (hoppy saison), Blondes Make Me Hoppy (session IPA), and J-Town Brown (brown ale).
“We’ve been home-brewing beer for a long time and we came up with a few that we really like, so we got the buzz to do something on a bigger scale. Craft beer really attracts an eclectic clientele and brings people together for the same purpose. That’s actually how we came up with the name ‘Civil Society’,” says Volstad. “We’re passionate about it and we’re excited to bring something a little different to Downtown Abacoa.”
